The Transfer of Property
Ownership of the grave may be transferred by will if it is identified in the will specifically rather than by a residuary clause or by general reference to real property. Otherwise, on the death of the owner, ownership shall descend to those persons specified in N.J.S. 3B:5-3 and 3B:5-4 who would inherit if the owner died intestate (2) If the grave is owned by more than one person, one owner's share may be transferred to another owner. (3) Ownership of the grave may be transferred to any heir at law of the person buried in the space.
Perpetual Care
The Cemetery Association will provide general maintenance including grass cutting, leaf pick up, and snow removal. Property owners may maintain their own graves sites as well, provided it is in compliance with the rules and regulations of the cemetery.

Flower borders add beauty to the cemetery, but they should not extend more than 12 inches from the base of the gravestone nor be planted on the sides of the foundation. Property owners should refrain from planting bushes or trees unless they comply with the master plan of the cemetery. Artificial flowers are allowed in the cemetery, but the Association maintains the right to remove them when they become unsightly.

Any decorative elements such as grave blankets or holidays flowers should be removed by the property owners within 45 days of the holiday. Open flames or combustibles of any sort are forbidden at the cemetery. Perpetual candles are permitted as long as the candle is contained at all times.

The Cemetery Association maintains the right to enter upon a person's property to make improvements and to determine where walkways and roads are placed. It also maintains the right to determine the layout of all plots. Cedar Grove Cemetery Association is not responsible for any vandalism to property in the cemetery or for injury that may be suffered by a property owner or visitor while in the cemetery.
Interments
Cedar Grove Cemetery requires at least 48 hours to prepare a site for a burial. Additional time may be required during the winter or after any type of severe weather or major renovation. Burials may take place every day of the week except Sundays, Christmas, or any of the legal holidays. The following rules govern a burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery:

Concrete Vaults: Concrete vaults are required for each burial

Interments In One Plot: Only single interments are allowed in a plot. A plot may also be used for a single cremation in addition to a single interment. Only human remains may be buried at the cemetery.
Burial of Cremations: Cremations are limited to 3 per vacant plot. Only cremations of human remains may be buried in a plot.

Site Openings: All burials must take place in a designated plot in the direction previously determined by the Cemetery Association.

Notifications: When the Association is asked to prepare a burial site, the property owner or a designee should also indicate the date and time of the actual burial so that all necessary arrangemts can take place.
Monuments
Monuments can be any type of stone. Inscriptions should reflect the dignity and propriety of a resting place. Property owners should refrain from placing anything on the grave site that is inconsistent with this philosophy.

The width of a monument should be 6 inches less than the width of the plot. The foundation should be no more than 3 inches larger than the monument around its entire border. Height of the monument may not exceed 48 inches. Walls, enclosures, or fences are not allowed to surround a plot or lot. If corner markers are installed, they must be flush with the ground.

The Cemetery Association must be notified before a monument is installed. Either the monument company or the property owner must call a representative of the Association and provide the date and time of the installation. The Association will mark the area for the installation.

Cedar Grove Cemetery Association maintains the right to remove any dangerous memorial in accordance with the NJ Cemetery Board's Rules and Regulations.
Disinterment
The Cedar Grove Cemetery Association should be notified in writing if a disinterment is required. The disinterment must comply with NJ Cemetery Board Regulations.
