Cedar Grove Cemetery
Middlebush, New Jersey

Cedar Grove Cemetery, A Historic Site

The Cedar Grove Cemetery was originally the burial ground of the Christian Van Doren family and possibly some of their neighbors.  It is believed that the first burial took place sometime between 1743 and 1762. The cemetery remained a private burial ground for various families in the area until 1847, when it was deeded to the congregation of the Middlebush Reformed Dutch Church. The cemetery remained in possession of the church until 1883, when the Cedar Grove Cemetery Association was incorporated. The Cedar Grove Cemetery is a unique historic record of the first settlers of Middlebush.
